Digital Marketing Simulation:

Better Together Community Center

Goals Behind the Project

The primary objective of this project was to develop a comprehensive digital marketing plan for a fictional business and execute the plan within a simulation environment. This immersive exercise aimed to simulate real-world challenges, refine digital marketing skills, and provide hands-on experience managing digital content across various platforms.


My Role and Responsibilities

I was responsible for every project stage, from conceptualizing the business to writing and executing the digital marketing plan. Key responsibilities included:

  • Designing the business’s foundational elements (e.g., logo, mission, vision, and value statements).

  • Writing a thorough digital marketing plan outlining objectives, tactics, target audience strategies, and performance evaluation methods.

  • Creating and managing social media accounts, blog posts, and other digital content.

  • Executing the plan according to a consistent posting schedule and monitoring outcomes.


Challenges and Solutions

Balancing the project’s posting schedule with the demands of full-time schooling and a part-time job was a significant challenge. To overcome this, I:

  • Developed a detailed content calendar.

  • Scheduled posts in advance to ensure consistency and efficiency.

  • Allocated dedicated blocks of time to planning and managing content to maintain quality while meeting deadlines.


Process Overview

The project followed a structured process, including:

  1. Initial Planning and Branding: Developed a unique business name and description, designed a logo, and articulated the business’s purpose, mission, vision, and values. Created a tagline to encapsulate the brand essence.

  2. Marketing Plan Creation: Wrote a detailed plan, including:

    • An overview of the business.

    • Goals of the digital marketing efforts.

    • Defined tactics and platform-specific strategies.

    • Identified the target audience.

    • Conceptualized organic content aligned with the audience’s interests.

    • Outlined methods for evaluating and refining the strategy.

  3. Execution in Simulation:

    • Created a website and blog using Google Sites.

    • Set up Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, SoundCloud, and YouTube business profiles.

    • Posted a blog every Monday and maintained a consistent posting schedule for other platforms: four times weekly on Facebook and Instagram, twice weekly on TikTok, monthly on SoundCloud, and bi-monthly on YouTube.

  4. Advertising Proposal: Drafted a proposal for digital advertising, supplementing the organic strategies.

  5. Reflection and Review: After completing the simulation, revisited the original plan to evaluate its strengths and areas for improvement. Drafted suggestions to enhance future strategies for the business.


Final Outputs and Results

Through this project, I gained a deep understanding of:

  • Writing and executing a digital marketing plan tailored to a business’s objectives and audience.

  • Creating and managing business profiles across diverse social media platforms.

  • Developing and maintaining a consistent brand presence online.

The project provided a solid foundation in digital marketing, preparing me to apply these skills effectively in real-world scenarios.
