Goals Behind the Project
The goal of this project was to design and build a simple yet visually appealing website for a fictional coffee shop using HTML and CSS. The objective was to create a user-friendly platform that effectively represented the business’s brand and provided essential information to its customers.
My Role and Responsibilities
I was responsible for:
Designing the website’s layout and structure.
Writing the HTML and CSS code to bring the design to life.
Organizing and managing all project assets, including images and code files.
Challenges and Solutions
One major challenge was that my vision for the website exceeded the scope of the course lessons. To overcome this:
I conducted independent research, utilizing online resources and tutorials to expand my knowledge of HTML and CSS.
While the final website didn’t fully realize my original vision, I successfully incorporated additional features and designs to get as close as possible to my desired outcome.
Process Overview
Initial Planning and Mockup Creation:
Began with a premade logo and client instructions outlining their needs and preferences for the website.
Designed a mockup using Canva to visualize the layout, color scheme, and content placement.
Website Development:
Wrote the HTML and CSS code to build the website’s structure and design.
Created and maintained an organized folder containing all components and assets, such as images, stylesheets, and fonts.
Testing and Adjustments:
Tested the website’s functionality and visual appeal.
Made adjustments to improve usability and ensure alignment with the client’s wishes.
Final Outputs and Results
The project resulted in:
A completed website representing the coffee shop’s brand and providing essential information in a clear and engaging format.
A foundational understanding of HTML and CSS, as well as practical experience applying these skills in a real-world context.
This project provided valuable insights into the website development process, enhancing my technical abilities and problem-solving skills. It also reinforced the importance of adaptability and continuous learning in digital marketing and web design.
